Verification Method for Shrinkage of Asteroid Probe Cable Insulation Under Alternating High and Low Temperatures

  • Aiming at the requirement of reliability and security of the cables of asteroid exploration spacecraft which experience extreme temperature alternations many times during long-term in-orbit flight, the results of temperature resistance experiment show that the conductor terminals expose caused by the insulating layer retraction after the temperature alternations, the electrical short-circuit risk exists. An Verification method of cable insulation retraction experienced high and low temperature alternations based on allometric growth model is proposed in this paper, the Verification model fitted curve of the contraction amounts along the wire axis of the wire insulating layer is built through ground test data, which is used to predict the contraction amount of the insulating layer at the wire terminal after experienced extreme temperature alternations many times and assess the insulation protection of conductor terminals inside electrical connectors at both ends of a cable. The Verification method provides a reference to the reliability and security design of cables under extreme temperature environment in deep space exploration.
