行星采样返回任务的样品防护技术研究进展

Review of Sample Protection of Sampling Return Mission

  • 摘要: 采样返回任务人类研究宇宙重大科学问题最有效的任务形式。然而采样返回任务的科学意义是建立在保护样品免遭地球污染的基础上的,同时,从地球安全考虑,还需要防止来自可能存在地外生命的天体的返回样品对地球的生物风险,因此采样返回任务需要对样品采取严格的防护措施。首先梳理了采样返回任务对样品防护的需求;回顾了国外主要采样返回任务对样品采取的防护措施,其中重点分析了正在进行中的火星2020任务的样品防护技术;进而,针对典型采样返回任务提炼出四条与样品防护有关的关键技术,包括:飞行硬件的清洁和灭菌技术、发射前和发射后的二次污染防护技术、返回样品的密闭封装技术,以及返回样品的地面隔离和处理技术,并梳理了任务各阶段所需要开展的样品防护工作;最后,对中国未来火星采样返回任务的样品防护工作提出了建议。

     

    Abstract: The sample return mission is the most effective mission form for human beings to study major scientific problems in the universe. However, the scientific significance of a sample return mission is based on the effective protection of the sample from being contaminated by earth substances. Meanwhile, from the perspective of Earth safety, it is also necessary to prevent the biological risks of returning samples from celestial bodies that may have extraterrestrial life to the Earth. Therefore, strict sample protective measures need to be applied for a sample return mission. In This paper, we first outlined the sample protection requirements for a sample return mission; reviewed major sample protection measures of previous sample return missions taken by foreign countries, with a focus on the ongoing Mars 2020 mission; Next, we extracted four key technologies related to sample protection, including cleaning and sterilization technology for flight hardware, recontamination prevention technology before and after launch, sealed packaging technology for returned samples, and ground isolation and processing technology for returned samples. Further, we sorted out major sample protection works required in different phases of a sample return mission, and finally puts forward suggestions on sample protection for China’s future Mars sample return mission.
